Monday Sessions:


iMovie on the iPad
Facilitator: Greg Emerson
iMovie has been a successful application on the laptop for more than a decade, and it especially user-friendly on the iPad. Learn strategies to plan a project, gather content, navigate the cool tools to create both a movie trailer and a longer project, and ways to share these with your audience.

Spreadsheets/Numbers
Facilitator: Matt Frey-Davis
A spreadsheet is one of the most powerful and underused tools on your computer. We’ll do the basics, entering data, exporting, and writing formulas.
  
Lego Mindstorms in the Classroom
Facilitator: Lawrence Kovacs
LEGO Mindstorms Kits make it possible to build programmable robots with sensors that detect light, sound, touch and color. In this introduction to Lego Robotics, you will learn about the different events at the Maine Robotics Track Meets and the basics of programming using the LEGO software. There will be time to experiment with the kits and the chance to engage in the creative problem solving that is inspired by building LEGO robots for specific tasks.

Basic iPad Navigation 
Facilitator: Tyler Patten
This session will help you become familiar with basic functions of the iPad. Participants will learn to find and download apps, change settings, configure multi-touch swipes and develop a better understanding of the device.

MLTI IV and the K-6 Refresh Q&A
Facilitator: Dean Emmerson
The first 90 minutes will be about MLTI IV resources and processes, and your questions about MLTI IV.  The second half of this session will be about the K-6 technology refresh (labs and iPads). Again, bring your questions!

Tuesday Sessions:


Apple Learning Tour
Facilitator: Jim Moulton

The Apple Learning Tour is an opportunity to experience how you can transform learning with innovative new tools for creating, curating, and deploying content.  Please join us for a 3 hour session in which participants will get the chance to see and experience how the Apple environment, including iPad, Mac, and Apple TV, can work together to transform the classroom for both teachers and students.
Engage students. Explore apps. interactive books, Multi-Touch textbooks, and iTunes U.  Discover amazing interactive iBooks. Immerse yourself in the world's largest online catalog of free education content in iTunes U. And experience some of the thousands of education apps for iPad.Learn how to create your own Multi-Touch books with Mac and iBooks Author. Discover how a course is built and shared in iTunes U Course Manager using interactive learning materials. Then see how it all comes together, leveraging Apple TV to transform the classroom experience.

Creating and Updating your Classroom Website with Blogger:
Facilitator: Laura Phelps
A classroom website is a vital part of a teacher's toolkit.  Blogger is part of our Google Apps for Education suite and it is a versatile and easy tool that you can use to create either a blog for a specific purpose (like for writing prompts and reading response journals) or for an entire classroom website. Come check it out and see how easy it is to create an online space that you can use to showcase student work, keep parents informed, manage online resources for your students and more!

The first hour and a half of this session is for people who don't have a website; the second hour and a half is open to both beginners and people who already have a site but want to update it.

iPad Accessibility
Facilitator: Dean Emmerson
The iPad has several accessibility features to help students learn built right into the operating system. This session will demonstrate some of these new tools in an interactive manner so participants can experience the audio and visual tools available to students with the iPad.

GarageBand on the iPad
Facilitator: Damien Austin
Come learn how to use this dynamic app to create sound recordings!  Please bring headphones or ear buds.

Wednesday Sessions:


Getting Going with Gmail
Facilitator: Dean Emmerson
This session will help users take control of their Inbox and fine tune how Gmail functions for their account. This session is perfect for new staff, as well as existing staff who feel as though they aren't getting the most out of Gmail.

Google Drive for iPad
Facilitator: Matt Frey-Davis
Google Drive for iPad is a good mobile office solution. It lets you read, write and modify documents, spreadsheets, and images. We’ll look at the basics of document creation and sharing, and at how the app and website interact.

Have an iPad...Now What?
Facilitator: Wanda Brown
Use iPads with projectors, Apple TV, and as individual workstations.  This session will cover how to integrate iPad technology into lessons, student work, and teacher record keeping. Participants will look at and try out a variety of apps covering multiple subject areas and purposes.
No prior knowledge needed.

App Hour:  Don’t Worry Be ‘Appy

Show and Tell: share your favorite apps and discover others that your colleagues are using.

Setting Up Mail, Calendars, Contacts on the iPad
Facilitator: Damien Austin
Come learn how to set up the basics on your iPad.
